TOPIC 1: Knee Osteoarthritis
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
- Detect signs and symptoms suggestive of osteoarthritis.
- Counsel patients on the benefits of exercise for treatment and prevention.
- Counsel patients when to consider glucosamine, chondroitin, supplements, icing, bracing, acupuncture, and surgery.
- Determine when visco supplements or cortisone injection may be helpful.
TOPIC 2: Pearls and Pitfalls of Diagnosis of Sports Medicine Injuries
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:COMP
- Detect and refer hand injuries that may require urgent surgical referral.
- Perform the most effective tests for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis.
- Distinguish ankle sprains from high ankle sprains.
- Evaluate foot injuries for Lis Franc sprain.
TOPIC 3: Pearls of the Evaluation and Management of Hip Pain
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
- Determine the etiology of greater trochanteric hip pain.
- Consider differential diagnosis of anterior hip pain in adult and pediatric patients.
- Select physical examination techniques or tests to best evaluate hip pain.
- Develop treatment plans for hip pain.
