TOPIC 1: Lymphadenopathy in Children: Diagnostic Approach.

- Differentiate serious from reactive adenopathy.
- Approach patient based on location and tempo of adenopathy.
- Use appropriate laboratory aids in diagnosis.
TOPIC 2: Urinary Tract Infections in Children.

- Develop an age-based approach to children with urinary tract infections (UTI).
- Employ evidence-based methods of risk assessment for occult UTI screening in febrile young children.
- Select the most appropriate urine collection methods and diagnostic tests for children with suspected UTI, as delineated by current evidence.
- Utilize local bacterial resistance and American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines when forming therapeutic decisions for pediatric UTI.
TOPIC 3: Infectious Diseases Walking Through Your Office Door.
Upon completion of this session, using the evidence-based guidelines from the AAP and the Red Book, the participant should be able to: EBM, GL, COMP
- Prepare for common and emerging infectious diseases.
- Recognize important symptoms and signs.
- Formulate a plan for management.
