  1. Identify key symptoms and signs.
  2. Recognize aortic imaging strengths and weaknesses.
  3. Determine interval screening/ timing for medical and/or surgical treatment.
  4. Assess complications of treatment.

TOPIC 2: Antiplatelets, Anticoagulants and Stenting in Acute Coronary Syndrome.

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: GL, EBM, COMP

  1. Recognize indications for antiplatelets.
  2. Relate differences between bare metal, drug-eluting stents.
  3. Relate differences between restenosis and stent thrombosis.
  4. Understand strengths and weaknesses of different antiplatelet and anticoagulation strategies in AF and stents.

TOPIC 3: Distinguishing, Diagnosing and Treating Carditis: Pericarditis, Myocarditis and Endocarditis.

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP

  1. Relate treatment differences between acute and recurrent pericarditis.
  2. Distinguish acute pericarditis, myopericarditis and myocarditis.
  3. Identify acute myocarditis patients requiring endomyocardial biopsy.
  4. Describe differential diag of valvular masses.
  5. Integrate surgical indications in endocarditis.
