TOPIC 1: Acute Aortic Syndromes.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
- Identify key symptoms and signs.
- Recognize aortic imaging strengths and weaknesses.
- Determine interval screening/ timing for medical and/or surgical treatment.
- Assess complications of treatment.
TOPIC 2: Antiplatelets, Anticoagulants and Stenting in Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: GL, EBM, COMP
- Recognize indications for antiplatelets.
- Relate differences between bare metal, drug-eluting stents.
- Relate differences between restenosis and stent thrombosis.
- Understand strengths and weaknesses of different antiplatelet and anticoagulation strategies in AF and stents.
TOPIC 3: Distinguishing, Diagnosing and Treating Carditis: Pericarditis, Myocarditis and Endocarditis.
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
- Relate treatment differences between acute and recurrent pericarditis.
- Distinguish acute pericarditis, myopericarditis and myocarditis.
- Identify acute myocarditis patients requiring endomyocardial biopsy.
- Describe differential diag of valvular masses.
- Integrate surgical indications in endocarditis.
