Michael Sibel, MD
Dr. Sibel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. After completing his residency at St. Luke’s University, he began Active Duty service in the United States Air Force, where he served for nine years and developed a niche in damage control resuscitation. During his service, he deployed on small, far-forward austere surgical and resuscitation teams in support of combat operations, working with some of the most elite surgical units in the Department of Defense (DoD). In his final four years of service, he was stationed at the University of Maryland as an instructor for the Air Force’s Continuous Sustainment of Trauma Readiness Skills (C-STARS) program, teaching damage control resuscitation to medical professionals across the DoD. Currently, Dr. Sibel is on faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he is actively engaged in medical education with special interests in trauma, disaster medicine, and ENT emergencies.
