Dr. Yael Mauer, MD, MPH, FACP, DABOM, is a Staff Physician in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Cleveland Clinic, with expertise in the medical management of metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and MASLD/MASH. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), and Chair-elect of the Clinical Practice Committee at the Obesity Society (Chair for 2026). Dr. Mauer frequently lectures on the management of metabolic diseases at Cleveland Clinic and across the United States.
Dr. Mauer is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM) of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She is dedicated to advancing medical education and holds several leadership roles in education, including Associate Program Director of the Obesity Fellowship and the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She teaches students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Mauer earned her medical degree from Rutgers Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at MetroHealth Medical Center of CWRU. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
