Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP

  1. Define recent advances in B-12 deficiency, Post-Gastroplasty Neuropathy, and Copper deficiency.
  2. Examine the changing clinical presentation of this illness.
  3. Apply newer laboratory techniques to the diagnosis.
  4. Apply an algorithm for the diagnosis and treatment of B-12 deficiency.

TOPIC 2: Advanced Nutritional Assessment and Therapy.

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: EBM, COMP

  1. Integrate readily available clinical data to make accurate nutritional assessments in seniors.
  2. Relate metabolic changes in aging to assess risk for malnutrition.
  3. Apply an evidence based approach to treatment of undernutrition in seniors.

TOPIC 3: Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), formerly Female Athlete Triad.

 Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:    GL, COMP

  1. Discuss the history of Female Athlete Triad and its new term RED-S
  2. Recognize the signs and symptoms of RED-S
  3. Apply a multidisciplinary treatment strategy for RED-S
  4. Employ individualize return to play considerations using the return to play guidelines
  5. Recognize when to refer patients for more advanced cardiac care.
