- Review the anatomy around the knee and which structures are commonly associated with overuse injuries.
- Evaluate the symptomatology and exam findings associated with common overuse injuries around the knee.
- Develop a shared decision-making management plan for common overuse injuries around the knee.
Preparticipation Examination of the Athlete
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Convey the importance of the preparticipation physical without supporting objective evidence.
- Determine who should be assessed at what age and frequency.
- Review the benefits and disadvantages of performing physical examinations in different settings and personnel.
- Develop strategies to screen, prevent, and manage the 3 Life-threatening Conditions associated with sports participation.
Not all Pain is created Equal: Nociplastic Pain
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Evaluate the mechanical difference between Nociceptive, Neurogenic, and Nociplastic
- Determine what the pain presentation may be for each of these pain types
- Develop strategies to screen and test for Nociplastic pain and determine how to treat/manage it.
What’s New? A review of therapeutic PT modalities and the science behind them
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Assess Dry Needling and Blood Flow Restriction as a PT modality
- Select appropriate patients that will benefit from these modalities
- Consider if there are contraindications for these modalities
Posture, Stability, Pain and Function
Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Assess what we know about Ergonomics and Posture
- Determine how “stability” play a role in pain & function
- Develop strategies to advise patients on ways to improve “Posture” and “Stability”
